type of practice ?

I have read here and elseware that it is a good idea to practice with the type o fpaints that you plan to use in the future. What do you do if you what to do tees but also hard surfaces? Fo nowI will stick with what I have but was curious what others here thought of this and if one learns using say createx on newsprint orpaper towel does that create bad habits that won't easily transfer over to hard surface work? just food for discussion.......

imho, there's so much difference between painting a t-shirt and a hard surface that it won't matter. i go into a total different mindset i think!
