HI Guys, going into unknown areas.

Is it possible to pinstrip with AA, an additive maybe ?

Oh yeah the reason, Had a guy turn up this morning wants his HD painting and I,m going to need some pinstriping around some graphics, I can mask it but I will need to start learning to pinstrip sometime.

Steve I showed the guy the tank you did with Crystals and he wants that design (not crystals though). I love the flow of that piece, CAN I USE IT PLEASE?

Never tried it Frog, But if Ya tape it off , I dont see no reason Ya cant spray it on, But I dont know if it would lift with tape when Ya pull it though , I,d say, get some xotic or hok thats made for striping if Yer gonna do much though . Good luck.

To pull any kind of a decent line,,, you're almost
gonna have to use some kind of oilbase paint,,,
I'm not sayin ya can't,, that's when someone just
goes an proves ya wrong,,, but you need good
pigment in a good flowing vehicle and AA is just
basically an acrylic enamel,, granted,, it's altered,,
but still basically acrylic enamel !!!
Good Luck on it,,, this is only an opinion !!!

i second whits opinion, oilbased is where it's at for striping, thick and slow dry, although i've striped with base coats before and made it work, but just it won't work on those long lines, try it out and let us know the results, i'd like to know what happens

To answer you're question, no, you won't be able ti pinstripe with AA. Trust me, I've tried about every method I could think of.
That said, there is a way to pinstripe with water-based colors. Get some E'Tac Private Stock (I've heard EFX will work, too, but haven't tried it personally), some of thier Jell'E thickener, and some condition aire.
Mix the paint with the thickener at about a 1:1 ratio, and add in a small amount of condition aire.
Also, use a Mack 70 series brush if at all possible. They're made for water-based paints, and work very well with them. Most othe brushes tend to leave a "trough" in the middle of your stripe.
I'm definitely a newbie to pinstriping, but I've tried HOK striping paints as well, and I think the E'Tac was very close as far as ease of use. Plus, no toxic fumes, which is always a bonus.
