I was wondering if anybody has tried using ALSA Ghost Chrome on something other than metal, such as canvas, and if so, is there anything that I should be aware of or know. I may use it in my next piece since I love the metalic finish I got on my car, using E'TAC on top of it.

Thanks

I don't know about the paint! But it will not reflect light and look different on a flat canvas! You may not be able to capture it in a photograph! But what the heck as long you can see it and are happy!

I could always lay down a dark color as a base, but then it is more uros, so the chemistry will make me say no!

I,m not sure about the Alsa Karrine, I never used it. But I would say the only chance You would have for the outcome You want would be to use the Uro primer instead of guesso & Prep just like You did Yer lil car. The outcome could be very interesting . Good Luck .

Yeah I can't say for sure either....Never tried Alsa or any of that Chrome lookin stuff.....But I did use Uros on the Rose Canvas I just did....I Gesso'd it like normal....Than Base coated with PPG's Omni line (Uros)....everything seemed to work well....I used white and black base paints for the Rose and House of Kolor Kandie Red...Then cleared with the same Omni stuff...The only diff in what I used between this and a Car is the Gesso,,haha!....and I didn't Prime the Canvas..Though I bet it wouldn't hurt....Might even be able to use plain Primer instead of Gesso..A good High build sandable Primer...Might fill the texture of the Canvas....Boy that'd beat playing in the messy Gesso.

....I say go for it...Only Prob I could see is if ya saturated the Canvas like crazy with Reducer and didn't let it flash off....But Dam that'd be hard to do...You'd have to be gobbing the paint on...I'm with CB..Paint it like ya did yer Trunk:)

I don't know how it will look on a canvas but the GhostChrome sure makes my skin look like aluminium when I get over spray (or spill it!!!!!) on my hands.

If you paint the canvas black first then spray the Ghostchrome on it you should have a great finish. I love this products versatility, it can be put over anything have anything put on top of it...... its one of my fav Alsa products...

HAHAHA You are too funny! You are an alien along with egneg! The guys at Sherwin Williams love me for telling folks about thier great prices, and by the time I went back to get some more wet sand, they were alsonst sold out! He said that the guys at SEMA had painted thier shoes with Mirra Chrome, and how cool it was. Would I need a uro base like Dell suggested? Hhhhhmmmm, I am still thinking.

The lawn guy saw me sanding my canvas outside, and asked why I was sanding a table top HAHAHHAHA, but it turns out that he did auto, and gave me some GREAT pointers on sanding! I will share in a mock "How To" since that part is already doe, THANK GOD! I have gesso embedded in my rings still!

Actually Alsa makes some cool fabrics..... like Chrome gator skin, the owners dress shoes are made of this...

Your base can be any type of paint when using GhostChrome, Uro, water based, acryllic....... it works over any type of paint.
