Ok.... I have been asked to paint 2 kids room murals. I have never painted one before but am extremely confident that I can do it. My question is....what kind of paint should I be using? I have heard that createx works well for murals, but would you have to top coat it?
Should I paint the majority of it with a paint brush and latex paint?
Any help from you experienced muralists would be so greatly appreciated

Not a Mural Expert, Only done a few, But I,d say Yer right on track with Yer thinkin. Roll the background base colors. Brush what You can & finish the detail with the ab, If needed. I,d definetlly stick with createx Or just regular latex paints Being a kids room. As far as Sealing it, I,ll let someone else comment on that . But I wouldn,t think its absolutly neccesary other than Kids are Kids. Good luck.

We always just use the Createx and AB everything,,,
mabye a hairy brush for some detailing and/or touch-ups,,,
for safekeeping we usually clearcoat with a "Minwax" waterbase
clear,,, satin finish,,, that kid proofs it and protects in general !!!
This is interior work,,, exterior is a whole diff ballgame !!!

Dubie all the murals i've done have been with a combination of materials....Createx, AutoAir, Decca, as well as basic acrylic latex interior house paints.....depending on the mural some were airbrush only while others were based with a hairy or foam brush first and then airbrush the finishing touches, it just depended on what I was doing at the time. I clearcoated all my murals with a waterbased latex clear from Sherwin Williams....applied with a roller and they have held up nicely.

I thought i'd go ahead and share a few of the most recent murals i'd done in the local mexican restaurant that my wife works for. All are 100% airbrush except the Matador and it was done with a foam brush first then airbrush rest....I hope this helped.
