Flames & Black fire tailgate.....

Hey everyone! Again a big delay, but at least something new to post for ya. A Calgay Flames hockey themed tailgate for a friends truck with a little black fire, and some skulls of course! And a fired up goalie mask for my nephew. Best dressed kid on the ice I might add!

The black fire is the easiest thing you've ever done! Just take an over-reduced black, load it into your airbrush and layout a, sort of rough, guide for your flames to go onto to. Don't get to detailed in the first step, just loosely lay down a "road map" as Mike Lavallee calls it.
Then, start to define the fire shjapses with your stencils or whatever you use to get the hard line shapes. Again just loose and random. Follow the guide you already have layed down.
Then, start laying down a second layer, crossing over some of the lines you already have, criss crossing some shapes over each other. I find that as long as I keep it loose, it looks cool!
