Natty grab it. But dont have to high of expectations. If it only stores air it wont last a whole day of airbrushing. I have idea how long it will last, maybe an hour or two at (guessing) :) If your not using it to spray be sure to turn it off the tank to be sure and keep all the pressure in it you can.

IM ONLY GUESSING! Take it home like you said and try. But dont be to disapointed if it doesnt last long. Thats why we have suggested Co2 tanks in the past. They will last all day. :)
:tee:
Best way to tell..Go home and fill er up to the top.....Set yer regulator at what psi you normally spray at....Tape yer AB trigger down, walk away and time it...Least then ya know how long it'll go with non stop spraying.
I'm with Rob though..Depending on yer Tank size..I'm guessing a couple hours if that......I have a 60Gallon tank on my comp...That'll kick on a couple times a day when spraying..Air doesn't last to long
egneg
10-05-2007, 05:09 PM
It will depend on a few variables as to how long it will last.
1. How much PSI you can put in it.
2. The size of the tank.
3. What pressure you spray at.
For example if you can fill it to 100 psi and spray at 60 psi that only gives you a range of 40 psi. Now the hard part is converting the gallons (which is how a tank is measured) to cubic feet of air at a given pressure. Then figuring how many cfm your airbrush uses at a given psi. As you can see this can get fairly complicated just to do the calculations. I will tell you that you will run out of air in the tank before you get a mathematical answer.

Ok ... I think I am lost here. Do you plan on letting it fill at home then taking it to your spot? Also I am not sure what you mean by 3 or 2. Normally the range for textiles is 45 -60 pis.
I'm lost too!...I thought it was a plain Airtank..That's a full blown Compressor........Are you gonna turn it on and let it fill..Then haul it out and use it till it dies?...Seems like a lot of work compared to getting a plain ole airtank..........If ya got a Co2 tank it'd last triple the time and be crazy lighter.
But ya gotta work with what ya got...Maybe you can bring a cord and bum some power off places every once in a while..(fill it back up).....Ya won't get much spray time outta it though...Maybe with crazy low pressure like yer talkin..But I had one of those way back when..At around 40psi..every 15min or so it'd kick on.

I forgot to mention the difference between cfm and cfms. The s brings temperature into play also (60 degrees F is the standard). As you know air expands and contracts dependent on the temp - air is heated as it compresses so 100 psi can drop as the air cools in the tank. Depending on the temp at your spot will also have a determining factor on how long it will last.
So Nat for a true test you will need to fill the tank and then wait for it to cool before you use it. You will need to get as close to the temp you will use it in as is reasonably possible.
now i dont know,,i was told fill it up at home,,and than drag it to my spot and spray,,,ill be home in a short while,,ill fill it to let ya know,,maybe im typing it wrong,,maybe the the whole tank is wrong,,,
Well..Looks like a fine and dandy compressor..but you have one at home similar, don't ya?..No diff..you still need to plug it in to fill it up....if you could do that..ya just drag the one ya got at home out on weekends with ya...This new one is the same dilly.
You could do the same with yer old comp....Fill it up at home..Drag it out and use it till it dies.
That's the thing everyone mentions Co2...Ya fill up the same size tank as what ya got..But for some (scientific) reason it holds much more...Like hundreds of PSI compared to an air tank....A tank of Air might last an hour..While the same size tank filled with Co2 may last the weekend..........I'm just guessing figures..No expert here...But I know there is a huge diff:)

compressed air tank-IGNORING a scuba tank is about 125 to 150PSI.
a scuba tank, filled to 3,000 PSI has about as much air as the old phone booth..
a CO2 tank is compressed to about 2,000 PSI or so for the big tanks and has a lot of uncompressed volume, compared to the normal air compressed tank.
90 cu feet of CO2, running through a TINY air brush nozzle, at 20 PSI takes a long time to empty.

OK now I wanna know. Natty Did you get a airtank ONLY or the tank with compressor????
A small tank like that will only hold what can be put into it. Like if you fill it at home it would only last about 10 min. Buuuuuut the whole compressor with tank unit? yuppers take an extension cord and plug into Converse stores outlets... hee heee
then you can spray all day!

But in the long run, Kinda makes Me wunder now. Why You bought sumpthin That at Least I aint never heard of. Dont Matter, Just be safe, & dont get in a hurry till Ya get it Figured out. Nat, look at what you want to plug into the generator, is it just the compressor, or does your list include lights, a computer or credit card machine, a heat setter/press, a boombox, etc. Almost all appliances have listing on the power consumption/needs. Add up all the things you want to use, and use that as a guide. When in doubt, buy larger, chances are your operation will only grow. If you aren't sure on the way it works, take your list of appliences and their needs with you to your Home Depot or wherever you are considering buying from, and let their "expert" figure it out, or ask an electrician. You can always rent a compressor for the job at hand, and you can always work with a combination of CO2 and a smaller compressor to take care of your needs. But always plan on the future, look at what you WANT your setup to be in the future, and be realistic, buying a tiny one only comes back to haunt you later on.
Good luck!
Hmmm?..after reading this all..I'm lost too.hehe..Yup no Gas in the Head and no starting in the house..haha
I'm always a skeptic..They say it wont work I'll try my ass off to prove am wrong...(really makes my Pops mad, haha)
Just guessing here..From my experience...If yer Generator isn't powerful enough to power yer Compressor..Most times when the Generator is running..Ya plug in the (whetever) if it's to much it bogs down the running of the Generator and stalls...Or trips the reset switch.
...If it's just sitting there and running normal..But the compressor looks dumb?..I'd say it's a something silly yer missing..
Maybe yer wattage is all wrong..I dunno numbers...I'd have to see what it was doing..The ole process of elimination. Till it comes down to "yup that's the wrong one,LOL"....Hard to do in Internet Land.
Wish i could offer more Giddys...Just all that comes to mind now:)

So You might look in the book that came with Yers & see if It Specifys Watts & Surge Watts, May Be Way to small for the correct start up for Yer presure. But Dont try ta run it again ( the Presure ) till Ya know for sure, It could damage it if not the correct power to run it.

Nat, I Have googled & searched & cant find any info on that Generator, The Company Or Who sells it Other than that link You Provide. Sunpthin dont seem right there. Also I cant find the wattage needed for the Silent air. So Please look in the books supplyed with both of them Look For Watts Needed & Possibly surge Watts They need as well & Well, see if We can get it sorted out .
Sorry for the double post, But It was getting to confusing .
Ok I just got done doing a lil research & I doubt that generator will even power a good Hair dryer Nat. As Even the Small kitchen appliances such as Blenders , Microwaves , Garbage Disposals , toasters , etc. Use 700 to 1500 watts to run Efficiantly. & I,m Almost positive the Compresor Will take quite a bit more than any of those. So , Im afraid to say Its Way to lil power for much more than some lighting & Possibly some Small appliances. Sorry For Yer Bad luck, & I,d really try to take it back or sell it. Good luck finding what You need.

V * A=W
volts times the AMP draw (its on the model plate ) gives the watts.
5,000 watt generator putting out 120 volt will supply 41amps TOTAL..
you got a 1,000 watt generator and it will put out 8.3 amps MAX.
any more questions, holler..
BTW, on SOME things the 'starting current draw is 50% BIGGER than running.
this applies to motors mainly.
if it runs on 1,000 watt or 8 amp, it can-depending on the thing, take 12-15 amps to START it.
the big problem is how long the start load is.
