Hey there everyone, got busy there for a bit, truly missed the forum.
Here is a bike I just sent out to the booth for clear, It's for a Mac Tools Rep. They wanted the old school eagle logo for the tanks and new logo for the fenders.
Did all the logos in basecoats and the stripes in 1-shot and It's all over-top a beautiful brandywine candy. Don't have a ton of life-hours behind the dagger but I winged it.

Nice job Jason, good to see you back, was wonderin what you were up to. That Brandywine is gonna look great!

Question though, I always use 1-shot over top the clear, does it go under clear as well? I was always told it tended to buckle under clears. (Great looking striping by the way!)

thanks for the kind words..

1-shot works great under clear, just remember to add 10% hardener in it (I use 1-shot brand hardener). also don't clear it right away, give the it at least 12 hours to set. HOK striping paint you can clear right away, but I have tons of 1-shot around, and most of my customers are patient.

Looks good from here. Should be another happy customer.

Curious why three color stripes. I see most as two colors and wondering why the black added. I'm not saying that it doesn't look good, just curious.

that's a good question.....

Layed the black down first then red, it was too dark for my taste so I popped a splash of yellow

I'll post some pics after it's cleared

Have you finished this one up yet? I'd love to see the "after" pics.

Good grief that is nice work. Excellent striping (hope I spelled that correctly) For something so simple it looks like a million dollars. I love the Mac logo and lettering.

Jason,
Looks good pins are nice as well.

Scott
When clearing over 1-shot you want to go light on the first coat to settle the striping then clear as normal. The hardener and light first coat are the seceret to help prevent the 1-shot from lifting when cleared.

Tim, thanks for that. I have always been worried about trying to clear over Oneshot and have had some issues. Trying to overcoat might be it. While the obvious solution is to use HOK pin paint, then clear, it is so much less forgiving, can't be erased or changed once its down (at least I don't think so), I have always airbrushed, cleared, then added pins. I will test and try this....

Sorry Jason, for the partil hijack, when I saw your awesome job, I was confused on how the clear would behave with the One Shot.

no problem Scott, Tim's right on the light first coat.

I should have some shots of the bike together soon, it's in the customer's garage right now being assembled

Thanks for all the compliments guys!!

hey there Herman, welcome to the forum! Thanks for the compliments.

Truly the only "original" ideas on this work is the striping and the placement, the logos are all airbrushed, yes, but they are referenced from Mac tools logos (one old and one new).

If you like the oldschool look go to:
www.kustomnewsstand.com and order some Barracuda back issues
or check out www.ironcross.net

that's how I feed my brain
again welcome!!!
