I know that polishing needles is pretty common, and alot of us take it a few (ahem, dozen) steps beyond that as well, so I thought I'd share some info on a product I found.
It's called simply "10,000 grit sanding gel" and is available from Eastwood.com.
For once, a product is named exactly for what it is. lol. Nothing fancy about it.
Anyway, I compared a needle polished with jewelers rouge to one I did with the rouge then the 10k grit gel through a 16x loupe.
With the jewelers rouge some micro scratches were visible, and you could still see a little bit of the "grain" of the metal.
The 10k gel didn't entirely rmove those things, but it definitely reduced them to the point that they could only really be seen under the just right light and the just right angle, etc.
I'll take some pics next time to give a visual comparison. Overall, for the price, I'd recommend it, especially for us tinkerers out there who just have to see if something can be improved a liiiiiitle bit more. lol.
