Never heard of it V....Ya seen them anywhere?..Most stencils I see for sale are no bigger than 10"x12" or so...If ya wanna run a stripe down a Car or something..easiest way (I think) is to just use two lines of tape side by side..Leaving a gap for the width of the stripe ya want.:D

ive seen people using this type of stencil tape, its on a big roll just like vinyl tape, but the backing pulls off then u paint between the lines then pull those off..i know some of u will say just ask the people u saw using it,,ya right they wont tell me or anyone anything, they r with a company called yipes stripes
Makes sense...Guess I'm cheap, I'd just lay the tape by hand, haha!......If I run across some info I'll be sure to speak up...I have no clue about it though...Hang tight, someone here might know:D

I've seen it vince but that was back in the 1970s or 80s! Theres a good chance they have it special made for their company! I would do what Dell suggested! Measure from a crown or area common on the car! Then Make the marks so you can see them when gazing down the side of the car! Stick the tape good on the car and pull a line on each panel one at a time! Use the marks as guide! Believe it or not you can miss the mark by 1/32 of an inch and it won't be noticeable! But if one of your lines is not straight you will notice that! I could have a car taped and ready to paint in 1 and 1/2 to 2 hours! That took practice though! When pulling the tape line you need to pull till you feel the tape starting to stretch and line it to the marks and plant it! Go down the panel and lightly set the tape! look down the side and if it looks straight then set the tape with a clean rag going down the side of the panel! check it again if you are satisfied then comes the next panel! Use the last line to start your new line by laying tape over it about 3 or 4 inches and then repeat the same care pulling the next panel! The reason to burnish the tape with a rag is to keep excess oil from your hands getting on the area! You can also manipulate the tape in the movement of the wrist and hand!
You can make guide lines for a pin striping brush and paint the same way!

Ah hah, WyoTech education finnaly proves useful! We learned about this today, its called Pull out Tape and its available through 3M in a lot of sizes.
Now, what it does is you lay down a large piece of tape and pull the middle few pieces out that you want the paint to appear in. If you're brushing it in, load up your brush and go. If you're spraying it in, place masking paper above and below the fine lines and blast away!

Vinyl cutter and paint mask. Cut it, weed it, tape it, apply it, paint it, pull it up.
Cheap and dirty way of doing a paint job. Lot's of money :)
A few folks on this forum use plotters on a daily basis in the sign business, so if you want information don't hesitate to ask.
The pre-made stuff will usually cost you a lot more, and limit your originality, so if you want to look at masked striping, think about your own original designs that can be put on the tape, and either buy a plotter or have somebody here cut the stuff for you... or get out the old trusty exacto and cut your own stencils by hand.
It's lots easier and usually takes a lot less time with a plotter though.
