I just joined today and well I don't call myself an airbrush artist but I do paint unusual items. I manufacture and paint and assemble magic tricks. It doesn't really fall under the standard artforms out there. So when someone asks me what I do it's a little difficult to explain. My husband is a stage and close-up magician and I stay behind the curtain so to speak. We make one of a kind tricks using the uniqueness of the paint itself, such as color-changing, thermochromatic, and real looking chrome on acrylic.

I'm looking forward to learning more and gaining inspiration and getting better.

Thanks Skids

Theresa

Hi Theresa, welcome to the forum. Do you by any chance sell items painted by you for magic tricks? Just curious if I bumped into you on Craig's site..... anyway, enjoy, look forward to yakking with you..

Thanks guys,

Blinddog, yes I do sell the tricks on my site as well as distributors, and local magic shops around the country. That's why I've had such a hard time at this. When I bought my first ab gun and paint about 6mos ago...I wanted the same cool finish they put on cars. I asked the local airbrush artists in Gburg and got the worst advise you could imagine, they even tried to talk me out of learning. So I'm reading ,watching Craig's DVD's and scoping out the forums and info sites to learn how this artform is accomplished.

Looking forward to yakking back,

Theresa

Thanks all for the warm welcome, I hope to learn what I may be doing wrong at the very least. I started out with the most expensive paint on the planet. I'm using Alsa's paints and addatives. If you know of real cool paint that reacts or does something weird let me know, cuz that's right up my ally.when you get a chance check out the demos and see some of the magic I tinker with:

Hey Theresa!! Welcome to our house!!!! As far as your ?'s about paints and effect's...your gonna have to talk with Denise..aka Ima_r_tiste, or Steven...aka stevenskc. There are others here that can probably answer your questions, but these two can point you in the right direction!!! Steel

Hi and welcome from Titan. I have been to Gburg a couple of times - lots of t squirters there. I also remember a while back (can't remember where) that someone was asking about painting chrome on the inside of acrylic balls ... are you that person?

Hey guys; Been working my butt off...to answer you EGNEG, yes I'am the chick with the chrome balls...lol. I'm at the 1000 mark now and have since discovered I should take up real chrome like bumpers. I have learned it's much easier than painting inside a ball. and there is apparently a big demand for pro chromers so could be an alternative income, hopefully. Hey skids, I'd like to thank you publicly for joining the Precision Magic family. Thanks for rescuing me from "illusions". Thanks to all of you for the warm welcome. This and other forums have helped so much to find my niche in such a closed and secretive industry in magic. When I intially started this journey... I asked the local squirters here in Gburg and they gave me such bad advise it cost $ $ $ in paint replacement. I buy only Alsa paint ,so needless to say I almost gave up on learning this artform. I'm just to the production paint level now but with alot of practise I want to be an artist, once I get over the gun control problem.
I currently use the iwatta RG-6 which may handicaped me because it's such a big gun, but great for what I do,not very flexable for artwork though. I've gotten real good at my clearing no big problems there yet, so I think I've gotten pretty far. When my stuff sells with no complaints I guess I'm doing ok, right?
sorry for the rant... waiting for paint to dry..lol
Magically yours

Theresa

Hey Theresa...
I call em "brass ovaries"...
I'm intrigued with what you're up to... can't wait to see more.

Hi Colourshift. Well no brass ovaries here.I really paint acrylic 4" balls chrome...it's called Kinetic Sphere on my site. I got this great distributor and they are selling like crazy...which is good but they are a bitch to paint. Because as the paint goes in the ball what don't stick blows right back at me.All my eye protection glasses are chrome plated now, not good visibity at all at times. If you're just foolin around on the net just visit my site Precision Magic .com check out the Demos page and you can see some of my work in action. I'm also learning CNC milling and alluminum fabricating to increase my skills, damn I should be doing cars, I think it pays more than what I'm doing. The downside to this is, it's just little ole' me doing all this work from prep to clear to packing and shipment. I am a one person company and my husband being the Magician, get's treated like a surgeon. I don't let him handle tools; He breaks a finger we're out of work. Someone has to show these people how it works. but anyways I'm wanting to learn so much about airbrushing so I can be more versitale in my product line so I have a long way to go yet. I simply just don't want to punch someone else's time clock! I'm to old to start over in the Ratt race.

Magically
Theresa
