Since Scott has started off the new year with an exposee I will be the next to lay my "beauty" before the masses for all to go blind by looking at.
This is the correct way to pallette a striping brush for the new sripers out there:blah:

Actually I think you are slimmer than I am. I know you are a little younger. No current photos of me but if one comes up some time... we'll see.
Ya look comfortable, that is what counts.

HI Moose, Nice pic!
What are you doing with that brush exactly??? :whowhere: I have a couple of pinstriping brushes I bought a year or so ago because I wanted to give it a try...But have NO CLUE how to go about getting them into condition to paint. If it involves putting it in my mouth...perhaps I am better off just leaving the brushes on the shelf! LOL

To properly prepare your brush if it is brand new and I am assuming it is a Mack brand you need to wash it with a mild soap and water. Fluff it and let dry. WHen it is dry put a light coat of oil. SOme use non detergent motor oil of if you have access an oil made for brushes. with the oil worked into the bristles form the brush into a point by GENTLY pulling it between your fingers. Let is sit overnight. I usually hold it in a spring clip with the bristles pointed up so the oil can seep into the thread knot. This will help in preventing paint from drying in the brush. Rinse it in clean mineral spirits and it is ready to use.
Where in Michigan are you again? Any chance you plan to go to the Pinstripers Jam in March at the Detroit Autorama?

Thank you moose.. I will have to give it a try.... Of course then I will have to try and figure out how to keep my hand steady enough to produce anything half way decent! LOL If you look at the hood I just finished you will see that I am not a natural pinstriper! lol
As far as the pinstripers jam... I know nothing about it. When is it exactly? I would love to come see what is going on but I am due to have this baby on Valentines day and then will be on restricted recovery for 6 weeks after... I will probably have to catch the next one.:wink2:
