Hi Jon, some pics will help to see where you are at and what tips might be best for your progress level. Lots of good experience here to help, we just need a point of reference to start with.....

ok, here's a tip, you probably already do this, but "Clean yer stuff out when yer done"
I just grabbed my airbrush from a week of vacation and it's friggin dirty! I've been airbrushing for 14 years now and still can't seem to clean my stuff out.

Jon,
As a beginner myself the best tip is to practice and not get discouraged by any seeming lack of progress. I find that after struggling on something and keeping at it it eventually clicks . Keep your tip clean. Oh ya did I mention practice:wink2: . QAs was stated by dog post a pic of what you feel you need help with. I did and the 4help I got was great.

Over 15 years here myself...and it seems no matter HOW much I clean the bloody thing, it's STILL dirty... gah. Airbrush Restorer helps though, melts that dried paint...(at least acrylics, AutoAir, etc). Can't live without it. (note EZ Air makes an "Intense" airbrush cleaner, fantastic stuff if you can find it....but their oil brush cleaner is virtually the same formula (I asked 'em) works just as good as the AutoAir/Createx restorer).

my tip on cleaning is i get as much out as I can and if I have to leave quickly I fill my cup with cleaner and wrap in a plastic bag so when I get back to it no dry paint..
Sorry but the key to abing os practice no short cuts,, dash and dot....
and as you learn you'll make a mistake and that mistake will work for someother Idea you have.. so it all works out as you learn

Always make sure you've got some spare needles around for that time when you trip over the airline and dink the end of your airbrush against the wall bending the end of the one you've got.
I was that clumsy airbrusher...

I have a roll of Paper towels and my Cleaning solvent sitting nearby for any sudden DeCon (Deconstruction) needed from my little Iwata.
I just pull it all apart clean everything and build it again, I have been able to get it looking almost new every time. ^_^!
Some good advice there guys..
I always make a conscience effort to run a color out and stop.. never leave any paint in cup or gun, do a big cleanup and spray cleaner thru.
another tip... always go out in clean underwear & be nice to ya mother.
