care a biz first,,, clean up when ya can !!!
Wake up one day,,, an find you're a slob !!!:partyalone:
(but I've learned to live with it,, so no complexes)

Ouch,,, Ouch,,, Ouch !!!
With all these great work areas,,, I know
you're trying to make me feel bad !!!
But in my defence,,, we went from 3600 sq ft
of building into a home situation where I've
got one whole room for sign stuff (ouch) and
share a room with a washer/dryer for airbrushing !!!
I'm trying to take the room over,,, but she won't
move them things for nothin,,, I've even spilled
paint on dirty clothes,,, but Nooo,,, won't budge !!!
One side of room is paint,,, other side is "work area",,,
this,, at least,, will make most feel a lot better about
their working conditions:partyalone:
so here goes,,, this is how a slob does it !!!
4x8 work surface (fresh cardboard tho)
(yes,,, that's a bag of dog food,, or something)

here's my studio, it's a little 1800sf shop behind my house. The best part about it, is when I get frustrated I grab some clay and rack my shotgun out back!

yes I'm a slob

I won't dare post mine. It's a dump. My work surface looks like a Jackson Pollock painting.

Hey Josie, just noticed this thread!

If you want I can go to your house and give you a few ideas on how to setup your work area based on the space available! No need to post my space!!! you already know how it is.

LOL Your shop looks like home to me!

Actually right now it is the cleanest it has ever been. I have everything put up and away so that the kids can't get into it while I am in the hospital...but normaly... it is a wreck!

Outside like that with all the dust around?? how do you get a clean job doing that?

Here's is the foot and a half of space I have to paint in that my mom allows me. If I paint it's usually on the driveway.

oh my! that's smaller than what's in my barn! which I had to move in there after I got booted out of our open air garage by another project car! I'll see if I have pics somewhere~
there it is~ under the plastic on the cart, is a bike tank and a bunch of canisters to paint!

I see this thread is another oldy I missed...Guess i'll pop some pics in here anyway...Did ya ever whip up something ya wanted yet Josie??

Still say if ya got the time and $$$ a car port can be yer friend..hahaha!....Mine's 18x20 but they come smaller or much bigger.

Talk about messes...Working on this dam car is just asking for a mess...I usually only clean it if I got some painting to do..Once this car's done it'll be all spiffy in there again.....I built this all myself with zero plans...Just scooped up some ideas and went for it...Working alright so far..Probably do some tweaking down the road.

No idea yet...Still in the bodywork stage...It's not my car...So whatever the owner's feeling at the time i guess??...I think he's leaning towards a solid Kandy of some color.....I'll be sure to keep ya'll posted when that point comes.

Just ordered a $300 set of headlights last night for it....Some dam pretty lights right there.hahaha!

JOSIE , if ya check out my thread about my shop, you will see a bedroom that i converted into a work area,,pretty small area,,when i first started to paint i used my bedroom between my bed and the wall,,like 2ft of distance,,i say you paint the walls bright to show ya bringing some new life in there,,or just find a special sturdy area in the room,,where you can put ya easel and the the overspray will sweetly paint ya walls,,maybe some of those easy installed high shelfs so your feet can move around and ya still feel roomie,,,PLEASE POST IT WHEN YA START IT,,,

Here's my "painting dungeon" I set up in a finished room in my basement. I still have to spray primer and clear outside, but I do all my painting down there.
The big metal thing is an airbrush holder/ paint tray thing I built in my welding class. For ventilation I have that old oven fan vented into a box filled with old furnace filters. It works great for any water-based paints.

I've got a double garage that at first when we moved into the house looked like the ideal place to spray...unfortunately, my wife thought it would be the perfect place to store halloween and christmas decorations, so I share it with plastic pumpkins and nativity scenes.
Do what you gotta do
I'll post some pics soon.

This is temporary, because later in the day, it is already to damn hot! I will convert some dining room space tomorrow, but when I teach, it is outside! I have one student that has demonstrated that he can't be in my house!

JimmyG

Well...I'm tempted to show mine because Cope's looks too clean and perfect, almost like there ain't no painterly work goin' on....
No muss, no fuss, no overspray, no consumables to be seen in sight....

Yeah, most of us know with major paints goin' on, things get scattered, awry and askewd......

Not to mention flyaway (or spilled) paint and all the masking and taping and trash that gets thrown to the floor in the heat of finishing a painterly job.....
