A couple years ago, I was contacted by an old designer friend from Cali, who had been given the commission to design some signs for the United States/China Cooperative Panda Preserve in China. This is the main research and breeding center for the world's remaining Panda population.

We were honored with getting the signs done and delivered to Wolong province (thank goodness for DHL) in north Central China. It was a learning experience, the brokering/border deals were a nightmare, and yes, even some bribes (on the Chinese side) were needed to get the things delivered to the site.

Funniest part was, the Chinese government would not allow us to import using wooden crates, which is how we ship our signs, can you believe it? Weird, but we had to accommodate, so every sign (about 15 total) had to be individually wrapped in corrugated plastic, then banded together, then strapped to a plastic pallette. Anyway, they are the furthest from Texas that our signs are installed. Hope you enjoy......

Cheers,
Scott

Very cool! I believe it on the shipping crate thing. From what I understand its easy as hell for them to ship whatever here... But its a trade barrier for us to overcome to ship to them.

Great signs!

LOL, Whit, you are right about typos, I had almost forgotten. We received the artwork in electronic form, so didn't have to worry, but I recall that we had to redo one of the restroom signs because the Chinese lettering wasn't quite right.

Glad you guys enjoy this stuff, represents the last 10 years of my life and work.

I work in the sign industry, and it is great. Since '91 I guess...wow, how time flies!
I incorporate airbrush onto vinyl quite often for clients.
Nice signage, really well done Scott. It's pretty cool having a signage section on the forums...they have pretty well thought of everything...or HAVE they?
Well, yes actually they have...or HAVE they?
Again, yes, they have.
Later,
