Hi all,

I'm a new new member and this is my first post. I'll write to welcome section of this forum later on to introduce myself but I thought this was a timely event and should be shared here.

A group interested in car shows came to film me in my studio last week. And I was told that it would be on tonight on the channel called "TekTV" meaning technology tv, the program is called "Otoloji". This channel belongs to an educational authority and is based at a private university campus -Maltepe University in Istanbul. They are on screen all day on satellites and half a day on cable TV. They can also be watched on-line at their web site. The link is http://www.teknolojitelevizyonu.com/ when you open the main page you will see an orange rectangle on the top right corner which says "Canli Yayin" in it meaning "live broadcasting". It is enough to click on this button to watch the program. It will be on at 8.30-9.00pm on Saturday-6th of January 2007 (It is local time which means +2 hours GMT, so it will be like around 13.30-14.00 in Washington DC I guess).

This show has a clever and energetic director and so far it went fine. I thought they were coming to my studio just to talk through our projects and to see what can be filmed here. But they came with their huge cameras and lights etc and they wanted to try some recording I had to accept it. But guess what, I hadn't even shaved that morning and certainly not wearing my best suit. Anyway they just said it should be done in a rather casual manner as if I was working in any day, and they filmed me in my normal daily look which is what I like. A few days after that they phoned and said it looked o.k. and they wanted to broadcast it. See how I look on screen, ha ha!!! So if you can watch, you can see me airbrushing a bit, perhaps some of you have already seen me in some amateur videos I put in Google video, etc. But this one is filmed with professional cameras, hope it looks alright this time.

Denise, I think we missed it. 8:30 PM GMT+2 would be 12:30 PM GMT-6 (central time)

Drat. That sounded interesting. I know I don't get the chanel, but surely would have liked to watch the feed on the web.

airbrushoptic, let us know if they re-broadcast okay?

Yes Denise. We missed it. It was at 12:30 this afternoon your time.

GMT (Greenwich Mean Time) is the world standard (along with UTC) for determining time differences through various time zones. It has no particular significance other than it's named after Greenwich, England, which sits on longitude 0 degrees. All world time standards are calculated relative to that. Since the earch spins in a clockwise direction, people to the west of longitude 0 will be some number of hours behind GMT. Those to the east of longitude 0 will be some number of hours ahead of GMT.

So, someone who is GMT +2 will be two hours to the east of Greenwich, England, or two hours ahead of GMT. Being in the central time zone, you are GMT -6, six hours to the west. That makes the difference between the two time zones 8 hours, with your time being 8 hours earlier than someone in GMT+2. Two hours to get to Greenwich England, and six hours later to get to you.

Iraq is GMT +3, so when Damian calls you it is 9 hours later his time than it is in your time. Midnight in Iraq is 3:00 in the afternoon your time. Someone in Queensland Australia is on GMT+ 10, meaning that they are 16 hours ahead of you. If you call someone in Queensland, Australia at 5:00 this afternoon, it will be 9:00 tomorrow morning to them.

The boundry between GMT +12 and GMT -12 is known as the international date line. If you are in GMT +12, someone in GMT -12 is a full 24 hours behind you. So if are standing on the line and walk six inches to the other side of the line, you gain or lose an entire calendar day. Fortunately the entire length of the IDL runs through the pacific ocean, zig-zagging around island chains that fall in it's path, otherwise it would wreak havoc on local time zones. You'd be waking up on Sunday morning getting ready to go to church, while you're neighbor across the street would be waking up on Monday morning getting ready to go to work.

I know it sounds confusing, but it's not really. The biggest confusion is keeping up with who's on Daylight Savings Time when and where.

Airbrushoptic, sorry we hijacked your thread.

Hi all and thanks for your interest,

Sorry that you missed it, I really would like you all to watch it but anyway. I am glad we all sorted about the time zones and no worries about hijacking the thread. It is not a constellation but you can watch some of my amateur videos in Google if you like to see me freehand airbrushing.

Best regards to you all guys. Obviously you have created a lively place here, thanks. Unfortunately Denise there isn't much going around airbrushing in this part of the world with very few arbrush artists, nearly none actually.

Hi again,

Sorry for the delay, but my wife who is my translator was a bit too busy recently and there were some deadline-jobs which were just finished. I didn't get the chance to enter this forum for some while, sorry.

For your question Denise, custom airbrushing has been getting more popular for the last two years in my country and a few young people are interested but I guess there is some more time before it gets widely applied. Back to my story, I actually started 30 years ago in a figurine workshop as an apprentice in airbrushing. I was a hairy artist brush painter since my childhood though and my pieces had been sort after even when I was under 20. I fell in love with airbrushing and continued doing it alongside other artistic works. For the last 3-4 years I gave all the priority to custom airbrushing, combining my accumulated knowlede and experience on working various surfaces over long years. Sorry, I guess I should have written to the welcome forum first perhaps, I will do it as early as posssible.

Regards to you all. :)
