Hi all... I'm finally about to start spraying. I want to go about it 'properly' and learn dots, lines and daggers before jumping into something. I've seen reference to a 'Dot Worksheet' but if it's actually some kind of printable sheet, I can't seem to find it.
I've also seen a reference to a 'Back to Basics' section, but for the life of me, I can't find it either.
Hope I'm not being mental here!! Can anybody help me out?

Thanks!

Ron

Thanks Cowboy... I'd seen that page, but aside from the first icon, all the rest of the links say 'Join' on them, although I'm already signed up on the forums and such. Do I need to pay the cash to have access to the 'free' stuff?

Thanks!

When you get bored of it... try doing a little Treasure Map. It makes it more entertaining and therefore, more fun. Dots & dashes, in circles with little crosses.... ENJOY!! The fun of the airbrush will get you hooked, ..... trust me!!

Well, I think I'm getting my dots down pretty well... Ran out of paint... :(

I've got a set of Createx coming... what do you all recommend to cut the paint? Something to help with tip-dry?
I saw a post about a reducer for AutoAir and a few people said it worked well with Createx too... any comments?
Thanks all! I'm pretty happy with how quickly I'm learning control.
Doesn't help my artistic eye (Or lack thereof!) I have a lot to learn, but am encouraged by the practice I've been doing so far.

Thanks!!

I would use something like Golden Airbrush Colors, Carbon Black for doing your learning, it can be sprayed right from the bottle, and it is totally honest when it comes to telling you how you are doing.
Do your dots, your lines, and your dagger/rat tail strokes. Try to make them as consistent as possible, and at about 2 inches long. Once you can do them one way, try doing them in the opposite direction, then top to bottom, bottom to top, then diagonally, top right to bottom left, bottom left to top right, top left to bottom right, bottom right to top left, then in long continious swirls, with the thick and thin parts changing position constantly. The idea with all this stuff isn't to drive you crazy, but to get you comfortable enough so that you can do any desired line, dot, or dagger when and where you please, and to be able to do it without having to stop and think about it.

When you are done with all those (hee, hee, hee), work on your shading and trigger control. Try sketching with the airbrush like you would with a pencil, se you can make the lines, work in multiple passes, and build up your lines and shading, just like you would with a pencil. Getting the airbrush to be an extension of your hand is the real goal here, and learning to spray without it being all the paint all the time, is a very big deal.

When you get the shading and drills down, then we can work on using stencils and masks, light source and shadows, textures, etc.

I have a problem with holding my airbrush and need some help. I have looked at the "back to basics" page and the way to hold and work the trigger. My problem is I don't have much feeling in my right arm and hand. I can't place the trigger under the tip of my index finger and work the trigger. I have to put it on the second section of my finger to feel it but I don't have much movement to pull the trigger back.
Does anyone have any suggestions that might help me out with trigger control? I will keep practicing what I can for now. Does everyone hold their AB the same or do you have different ways to control it because of small/large hands or something else? Thanks everyone
