Yea, a bit off track from meticulous airbrushing but surely related meticulous wise.....

First off, the design work required much precision as it was all done full scale using Corel Draw12, and translated to all the further processes, especially the CNC work which was cut from 9.5mm thick bronze sheet....

The concrete monument was formed with plywood and cast monolithic as a tall "wedge" with integral steel supports that later attached to a concrete foundation hidden below grade....
The size of the monument is 30"w X 60"h X 8"thick at base....Pic #1

Pic 2.....Dedication plaque for "the trail"....McTell Trail is a 1 mile walking & bike path that meanders from the university to downtown Statesboro....The dedication plaque measures 24"w X 28"h.....
The background finish is textured powdercoat, anodized bronze colour...

The other side......McTell Trail Logo design......
Also developed the artwork using Corel Draw12, with a progression of hand drawn art scanned in and vectored for further process for the cnc work......
Also done from 9.5mm bronze sheet.....

Pic 4.....The McTell Trail Logo plaque installed....The recessed date numbers were cut from wax and glued onto the concrete form before the monument was cast....

Pic 5....A close up on the cnc bronze logo plaque.....It measures 14" x 24"......

Pic 6....Closer up showing the fine detail on the cnc cuts on the tree design.....1.5mm (.8 radius) was achieved on the detail cuts.....The depth of cut was near 4mm....

This logo design was also used to create some sandblasted signs...

Ya Ron...I certainly did have some expert help from yourself on getting those sharp cusp nodes on the tree vector turned into 1.5mm "rounded nodes" so that my cnc guy could accomplish the detail.....

Hehehe...my cnc guy still cussed me as he broke a few mill bits in the process, but the detail sure did turn out really sweet....

Jimmy that turned out a real nice piece, only ever used in the past CNC for heavy duty pression milling, nice seeing the delicate side that can be achieved.

Holly Crap Jimmy! Must have involved some serious mill time, as bronze does'nt mill all that fast. Way kewl!

That is some intense sign work! I am clueless with all that equipment!

Minnie carves stones you guys. If I had lived by her, I would have had her do a memorial stone for my boy.
