When I mix a skin tone I throw all kinds of weirdness into it. Mine will usually contain several colors including brown, yellow, white, red, blue and green. Use that as a guide and mix up very small batches (a drop of color at a time) keeping track of your ratios. Once you have one you like, mix a larger batch and fine tune it.

cool pepe will work on that and see what i get thanks for the info
You should be able to get just about any color
with using your primaries,,, or variations of,,,
basics are,,, Red,, Yellow,, Blue ,,,
red/yellow = orange
blue/yellow = green
red/blue = purple
blue/yellow = green + red = brown
any variation can be altered up or down
with black or white !!!
Intensities can be altered with more of
one over the other in colors in mixing !!!
I realize most know the primaries,,, but then,,,
there are some that don't,,, this is for them !!
Next time you're out of a particular color,,,
give it a shot mixing your own !!!
So Sorry,,, Scuze Please,,,
The question was skintones,,,,,,
there are so many variations,,,,
try starting with (transparents)
yellow, touch of red, half touch of blue (or brown)
(opaques) white, yellow to a cream, touch of red,,
half touch of blue (or brown)
Basically what this produces is a yellowish tan
and can be regulated by how much of what is
mixed or how heavy it's applied !!!
With transparents you can mix on the canvas
by simply spraying one color over the other !!!

Hope this helps !!!

I'm probably full of crap, but what about mixing flesh tones like Driscoll does (using his formula's as a guide line), only with transparent urethanes, may not be right on the money...but close? Sounds good in theory... (driscolls formula contains all sorts of colours, kinda like what pepe said)
I have the info somewhere...only, will I get my a** shot off if I share? (by steve)

I seem to do it a little differently every time, and I am by NO MEANS AN EXPERT.
For the pedestal table (I only remember because it's less than a month old) I started with orange then added white. I was headed for a middle of the road peach-ish color, then I added just half a drop of dark blue which helped give it a slightly browner hugh. Once I had a middle color I split it up into three parts and added a little red, blue, and the slightest hint of black to one and white to the other. I added transparent extender to the middle and darker colors then just painted them on VERY lightly. I always like to start with a middle tone so I can work both ways.
Again, not an expert on paint mixing, that's just the way the last project went.

Hey, shifter,
You can share the colors with them. I can't mass produce the charts and the formulas change with every new batch of Com-Art so I am goint to have a line of pre-mixed flesh colors put out by Medea this year. That way the colors will stay constant and will never stray from the original. I would give you the colors myself but I'm not in the studio now.

Josie,
They will be sold anywhere Com-art is sold. I'll keep you posted as to when they are going to be available.
