well i am going to be buying my first airbrush set up in the summer and i was going to be getting : a grex xg and a 2.5hp 25l compressor and a cheapo mini spray gun. i was wondering if there were any better airbrushes capable of the same detail as the xg for around the same price-up to £150?
i would ike the ab to be a good allrounder not just detail.
thanks in advanced for any help

From the UK, I doubt it, for me the build quality and how it handles versus the price, make it a very versatile and able brush, have used cheapy brushes and it is chalk and cheese, you have to work harder to produce results, unless you pick up something 2nd hand, here you face the perils of an honest seller, do you know what you are looking at in the brush when you get it.
Picked one up as being mint condition lol, manky to say the least, spent 3 hours with it stripped down, gingerly cleaning.
At the end of the day you pay your money an take a chance, better going for what you can afford, pound for pound you won't be dissappointed with the Grex.

huh that reply kind of confuses me... im not looking to buy secondhand. just wondering if there was any better brushes for nearly 2 times the price...
just wondering if there was any better brushes for nearly 2 times the price...
Now I'm confused...LOL
You wanna know if there's better AB's than the Grex for nearly 2 times the price?....Hmmmm, I'm no Grex pro, but I imagine if you take the price of 1 and double it...You can probably buy a pretty sweet AB...But the 1st post you wanted to look for "cheaper or just as good as", now yer talking double..Sooooo I'm lost:D
I don't know what the XG costs..So I don't know what compares to it...But yes there are lots of good quality and fair priced AB's out there.
Depends,,,
I've seen beautiful stuff turned out with a cheapie lil VL,,,
I've seen crap from a micron,, I'm thinkin ya learn to use
what ya got,, then you know what to expect on an upgrade !!!

in the first post it says nowhere 'cheaper or as good as' i said 'the same price (£80) up to £150
for around the same price-up to £150?
MY bad, I read the above in bold as "cheaper or just as good".
either way..All ya gotta do is compare the price of the XG with other good brands...They all have there good and bad points...Ask here if you want any 1st hand info about a certain AB...I don't have the time or interest to hunt down prices and what you "might" want..We don't know...More info on what yer interested in would help.
If yer not getting the answer you want, perhaps the question should be altered :D

Grex seems like a good choice to me! I wouldn't mind having one myself! Just waiting for some unknown great aunt to leave me all her money then I can try them all and pass the ones I don't like to people in search like you!
heeee Heeeee Weheeeeee!

Sorry mate took you to mean you were spending £150 total for your full package, in which case you won't beat the the Grex at £80/$160, now after that if you are looking to spend £150/$300 just on the airbrush that is different.
Iwata revolution series starting at around £80, the Kustom series at £120, haven't a clue what they are like.
Paasche VL set around £120.00, very popular brush, but is it any better.
Unless you are importing from the States.
Don't get confused, because it has a big price tag it is better, as said for a good all rounder, the XG is hard to be disappointed in.
