Howdy folks!
Simple question......I want to have a material I can draw on, cut, stick to the surface and spray. What am I looking for?
The most popular simple answer wins:cheeky-smiley-006:
And as always thank you so very very much
Check your local sign shop,,
ask about "Transfer Tape",, (application tape),,
kinda like masking tape,, but in wider roles,,,
simply put it down,, draw off your design,,,
carefully cut,, peel'n spray,, simple as that !!!
Otherwise,, stencil (paint mask) can be plotter cut,,
but you'd need your vector image for them to cut !!!
Sounds like Transfer tape would do ya right...I have "Sticky Mickey's" works like a charm for just what you said:)..........There's other kinds of course..Sign supply places sell Transfer tape of different brands.

Yep I concur! Transfer tape sounds like a good start! In time you will probably try anything that sticks! Some will work some will not!

can the transfer tape be run through a plotter?
I suppose my undying gratitude is kinda the boobie prize huh?

You'd need the stencil material,, (paint mask)
for a plotter cut,, but it's good stuff !!!
You'd still need the application tape to transfer
the stencil material after it's cut,, to your surface !!
Did I win Anything (yet) ???
I Put transfer tape on paper and run it through my Printer..hehe...Then pull em apart, cut and stick...Instant stencil..Weeeeeeeee:crazy:

how do you put it on paper? doesn't that defeat the purpose of sticking to your surface?

Nope the paper just carries it through the printer...Then when it's done, you pull the two apart..It stays Sticky, Then I cut it and stick it to my project:)
EDIT::..Post 13 in this thread shows what i do...Might help

Vinyl,, or stencil material is a solid surface
material on a backing paper,, and comes ready to cut
on a role,, the plotter cuts the desired graphic
and as a result,, the material is hard to manuver
because it's all cut up from the plotter,, hence,,
the transfer (application)tape to hold everything
off the backing paper together in one piece to get
from the plotter to the working surface,, then the
transfer tape is removed,, leaving the stencil
material in place as a complete piece,, cut,, but
complete !!! Then you remove unwanted material and spray !!
