I will post a pic of my first lines and my recent ones so you can see tha tprogress is possible. Did you sign up to go to COBO? If so you will leave there a much better striper than you came!

moose, I did sign up yeah...but! Coupla things may prevent me participating much.
First, lost my job Monday. Big surprise, never saw it coming. :(
Second, I may be helping out in the Sata booth. :)
All of the above may not happen if I get a job out of state.

I still want one of those boxes though...do we have hobby lobby's here in MI?

Thanks, I think Hobby Lobby is a nation wide chain of arts and crafts stores. What I did was stain the box ebony with wood stain, put on a few coats of spar varnish and gave it about a week to cure, then scuffed it with steel wool and shot a couple of coats of PPG 3000 over the spar varnish. It is a work in progress I will keep going until I run out of space. AL

Lynne,
Sorry to hear you lost your job:( If you end up working the Sata booth that will put you in hte door so you are welcome to stop by anytime you can and stay for as long or little as you can. As far as Hobby Lobby the closest I have found is just across the border in Toledo Ohio. If you do end up at the Sata booth let me know and I will stop by to say Hi

Tim

p.s. sorry for hi-jacking the thread......

It's likely Tim, if I'm still in the state, or even if I'm not, I may fly home to do it. I'd just be 'filler' but I'm already working on a design to do on a sign blank, using some of the kool paints AutoAir has. Sort of a pinup. Whatever it morphs into, you guys will see it.
Thanks ffor the kind words...
Toledo, oh crap. I wonder if I could order online?

well heck, i mite as well add onto this thread as well, mines alot like hi rise box, but i used a drill bit box, took out the extra tray to where it has one tray. n insert a spring at the top of that tray so i can slide in my brush n twist it and it keeps it there.. need to take pics n post them. didn't cost me nothing since it was laying around the shop. i know you can pick up cheap drill bit boxes at tool sales for a buck. i carry my stripers in it, have another box just for my liners.

hey i seen the glass jar configured up with a brace over the top with the spring to hold the brushes upright.. thought that was freakin kewl..

i do have an objection about the foam in the box, say i tend to wash my brushes out with cleaner lay em to the side which typically goes back in the box -loose- and then later on oil them before storin.

well if i was to use a box with foam - i imagine the thinner off the hairs would really do a number on the foam. only way i'd use the foam is to just put the brushes in there after i oil them. but i know the way i work and etc. i put my brushes in a box while its got thinner on it. my luck the hairs would burn up the foam and become one with it. totally freakin me out. somebody on a website has a metal one they built, but didn't put a spring on it to hold em in place, thinkin about doing me one, but also need the glass jar with spring over top in the air to keep mine in thinner while im using other brushes..

be really kewl if somebody could make a neat metal one, have vent opens up at the top to run ur belt thru it. so it'll stay to the side of your leg while your striping and when u get thru stick it there. no need to go back n forth between the vehicle or etc ur striping. ANYBODY want ideas.. i got tons of em in my head. TAKE EM AWAY LOLOL
