A lil light bulb flickered just now:crazy:....Tip dry is a way of the wand so to speak..Always gonna be there to an extent, I've learned to adjust....my normal method is to just keep a paper towel handy and dab on the tip every so often.

Problem is, I loose things that I put down right in front of me..hahahaha!....My paper towel blows away or falls in the floor, gets paint piled on it....always more time huntiing than fixing the prob..

I thought of this nifty lil ordeal....maybe it's been done and some people do it..I dunno??...I'm gonna give it a whirl!

1st I found a foam sanding block...the black side is crazy smooshy..LOL...I think a Kitchen type sponge would be spiffy too...I cut some slashes in the sides to hold rubber bands.

16365

Then I wrapped it in the paper towel and taped the backside.

16366

Now strap it to yer arm with two rubber bands:D

16367

If all goes well I should be able to stab my arm and clean the tip on the fly, Weeeeee!....barely have to leave the work surface.

16368

I'll try this out on my next FunBus...let ya'll know if it vibes well..hahahaaa!

EDIT::: Should add this is only gonna work on AB's where you can remove the needle cap to have the needle exposed...

It looks like you are attempting something else! (we need to talk Dell) J/K

Wet Q-Tips also work good. The hollow tubed kind.

hahha..I thought of that...No tracks on me, promise..LOL

Yeah I've heard of Q-tips, but if I loose paper towels, no way I'm gonna keep an eye on a Q-tip..hahahaha

I need to clean my station area too! Freki just loves hanging out there. Thank God I have a thick wool carpet underneath me, because he tries to steal my guns!

I always use my fingernails because I am too lazy to get up to grab a Q-Tip, or what ever. Your idea just might work for me!

With my Infinity, I would be afraid to touch the tip of my .15 into the pad for fear of bending the tip but with the .4 tip it should be no problem. Thanx ABD for a good tip have to try it out.

I have the same Infinity..I think it'd be fine so long as ya don't do any side to side motions to bend it...How I clean it now is by stabbing a paper towel and twisting a bit.......If I bend anything I'll be sure to update here..hahaha

Dell buy a finger nail paint remover in the squat big big mouth container that contains a sponge in it! Women just push their fingers into the foam to clean their nails! You can do the same with an airbrush! Somebody else mentioned this method but I don't know when or where!

I just keep a whole bunch of rags laying around. Well, they're actually surgical sponges (unused) that my surgical nurse friends gets (apparenty, everything for a given proceedure is packed into one big sterile pack, then each thing is wrapped inside there (anyone who's had an MRE can imagine). Once they open the big package, they can't re-use anything, even though it's still individually, sterily wrapped.
And you wonder why health insurance costs so much. lmao.

Anyway, I just keep a whole bunch of them around. I'd be screwed if I had to keep track of just one. If I'm working on a project that involves me moving, I use a trick from my days as a house painter and stick a couple of rags hanging out of my back pocket (non-wallet side. trust me).

Yup all good ideas, but not for me, Robert that sounds like a doozy, But involves going somewhere spending $$ and still hoping I don't set it down and loose it..hahaha!

Rags in the pocket, handy but sucks (for me), I hate to keep reaching in my pockets, Usually have a coat on so I can't get to em quick anyway....Stick it in there, falls out...Or it doesn't fall out and I gotta dig for it..LOL..Right back to hunting for things again......Guess it's a good thing my heads connected:)

I think this way is gonna shave a wack of time off cleaning for me:D..Barely have to look away from the work, no reaching, or hunting....dab and spray..hahaha!

A good dry tip tip Dell! But I use E'tac and don't really suffer from it apart from the new plasma white, I used to stab a sponge with the needdle but went too far one day! Now I just use my fingers.

I end up stabbing myself when I use my fingers...That or it just doesn't get clean, Never had any luck with fingers..hahaha!

Far as Etac, Mine clogs long before any tip dry, so I guess I don't get any with it either..LOL

Uros are the worst for tip dry though, IMO...The waterbase ones seem to be much better...Just cuz they take forever to dry..hahaha!...Tiz a trade off I suppose:D...Do I want my paint to dry in under an hour..Or do I wanna pick the tip every 30 seconds.:smashfreakB:

You know I bought my Infinity off ebay and it come with a micro hook on it, fixed it with a very fine wet stone, and bent the tip of a 1.5 twice myself! It straightens just as easy as it bends! Roll it between to pieces of 1/4 inch heavy glass so pressure can be applied and it paints fine! Of course it has not been bent so bad that I couldn't pull it out!

I use a container of solvent (typically water for my work), and a denture brush.
The small round bundle of bristles on the back of the denture brush make it easy to clean not only the tip dry off, but also to clean out the needle cap.
It works on my Infinity as well as my Olympos, Grex, Iwata, Paasche, etc.
I drilled a hole through the handle of the denture brush, and put a long lariat on it so that I can hang it from my belt, around my neck, or clipped to the airbrush holder. That keeps me from dropping it to the floor, misplacing it, or having someone "accidentally" take it.
Even without the container of solvent, it does extremely well, and the fact that I can clean the junk out of the needle cap, and off the needle and the exterior of the brush all with a quick brushing makes it easy to do. The bristles are stiffer than a toothbrush, but not so stiff that they will bend the needle, or scratch the surfaces of the brush. You can toss the brushes in the dishwasher if they get really bad. Warning though, people like to "Borrow" them, including cats, wolves, etc. They seem to be the perfect toy for chewing, and the*bristles give just enough texture and fight that the furry ones can't help themselves. A rubber dental pick can also help clean out those delicate areas on your airbrushes.

I recently {last weekend} had an idea regarding how to lessen tip dry on my Badger Anthem 155 and 175 Cresendo AB's. I did some polishing with tooth paste previously whixch actually helped a bit. BUT, here we go...If a smoother or slipperier needle is the goal whatabout adding something to the needle to do so. Here's where the posts start flying. I dipped the needle tips in Armourall, silicone for car tires, wiped it off with paper towel and repeated. Inserted in AB and hooked up my Createx Black and strated to spray hair lines Dagger strokes, just messiong around to see if and how long it would work. I have to say i probably fooled around a good half hour and stopped to check the needle. There was hardle any collection of black paint on the tip. So, call me crazy but it seems to work. Keep in mind it is not wet so it won't effect the paint you are spraying. It might be different with Auto Air or something but with Createx it helps. Ok, let me have it.

Armourall, yikes!

I worked in a body shop when I was fresh outta highschool...Detailing cars, prep and all that.....The paint booth was on the other end of this huge ass building...I went to armourall some tires on a car I finished up...The painter caught me and snapped!..hahaa..."That stuff flys through the air, it'll ruin any paintjob it lands on, don't you ever spray that crap when I'm painting"..hahaa

Maybe he was a bit high strung, but since then I don't even keep a bottle of the stuff in the same room with my paints..lol
