Hello all,

Thanks for the invite to the site, very impressive.

I'm a full time woodturner from the UK, making pieces for galleries and exhibition. I mainly use the airbrush for decorating the works I make but I do paint on the odd helmet, bike tank or computer panel.

Regards....Mike

Hi Frog,

Nice work, most of my stuff is done for galleries in London, I mainly turn from wet, freshly felled timber, dry it in a microwave and finish by airbrushing some decoration then clear lacquer.

The walls of the vessels are turned to 1/16" thickness and pierced with a dentist drill I bought from the United States.

Regards....Mike

Hi Mike,
Did you feature in one of the woodturning mags a couple of years ago, I seem to remember seeing it.
Unfortunatly now I,m in Spain I dont get the mags anymore, realy enjoyed readin them.
I dont turn much now, good wood is realy expensive here and the olive is hard to come by too.
Seeing your stuff is making me want to get back on my lathe though.

Great pieces, thanks

Michael

Hi Michael,

Yes, I do write articles for the woodturning magazines in the UK, I also get to test new tools and machinery for them as well. Arn't I lucky.

Learning to use the airbrush added a whole new dimension to turning for me, and, fortunately the galleries love the coloured work as well.

Luckily for me, the recent storms brought down a large number of trees in the midlands so the timber isn't currently a problem.

What is it with Spain that attracts turners? One of the UKs leading turners, Chris Stott moved over there last year.

Regards....Mike

The Warmth !!!! 11 months of nice weather. It was tshirt weather up to about 2 weeks a go.

Not gonna say anything about you grt to test new tools and stuff:angry-smiley-030: :angry-smiley-030: :angry-smiley-030: just gonna sulk for a while.

Your in the midlands, I think we met briefly once at a gallery near sutton park, I cant remember the name ??? If it was you, you were droping off some stuff and I had just finished showing my Sculptures to the owner.
All the best
Michael
