Hey Everyone,

Been laying low lately and painting when I can ( maybe an hour or 2 a week ).

Does anyone know if the Iwata HP-B's have teflon O-rings? This is not one of the new Plus series? I can't seem to find any info like this anywhere on them. It's taking to long to get any real detail with my little Eclispe and I need to step up. Maybe I should save my egg money for a Micron or MoJo?

Thanks in advance. Later Jay

Hi Jay...
I can't say for sure...but David Monnig probably could, or hey, contact the Iwata people, I'm sure they'd be glad to help... I know the plus' have em, but unsure as to when it was integrated (or if) into the earlier models.
Hope this helps.

Theres a tech link in the forum listing for Iwata....or email Monnig at the contact page for www.coastairbrush.com
They're pretty good with getting back with you.

Steven set up an ASET/IWATA link here in Forum FAQ section. Some of the reps are registered with this board. Your in it now.

Jay, I don't believe the earlier models before the "plus" have teflon packing.

Any of the Plus brushes will provide longer service with reducers, but all will work quite well, if maintained well.

Could you define "taking too long", not sure what you mean here. Any fine lining with an Ab is painstaking and takes time. A teflon O ring won't change that. Sorry if I am misunderstanding. And yes, I love my Micron C Plus, its awesome, but I am sure the Mojo is just as good, or at least that's what I read.

Jay, fine lines take time and practice, practice, practice. there's no gimme there. Sorry man...it just takes practice. I can do amazing stuff with practice, but when it comes to laying them down on an actual piece.... I freeze up like it's an algebra test in high school.
I've been able to get some fine lines with an eclipse, although I don't own one. I was in a workshop, and that's what they had...I made due, lol. But brother, you can get some fine lines with it...it just takes the "p" word.
I will admit, the Micron CMC I have is sex in an airbrush...it's much easier to maintain control....and the lines are ever so finer.
All's the o-rings is gonna give you is a versatility in paint, as in you can use urethanes, water based, whatever...without consequence. (as in, eventually, urethanes will eat the o-rings in the old HP-C's B's etc)

Hey Guys,

Thanks for the responses. I guess I wasn't real clear. The reason I wanted to know about the O-rings was I have an opportunity to purchase a new HP-B or HP-C at a really great price but, if they don't have the Teflon, I'd rather save my money and get an A/B ( a Micron or Mo Jo ) that does. I use all uro's. My Eclipse looks almost like it did when it came out of the box, inside and out, as does all my spray equipment.

BlindDog99 and colorshift,

I am hip to practice and I can dial a very very fine line in with my Eclispe but, why kill yourself when you can buy a little more precision and control? That's my logic here.

I also assumed that since this section is defined as, " Technical Support directly from the North American distributor of Iwata etc...etc..." that's who'd be answering the questions ( "humbly" -not that I don't appreciate your input ). Later Jay

Jay, I agree with the fineline talk. The CM or Mojo will make that a pleasure, didn't mean to infer otherwise. I really don't think a non-teflon packed AB is too much of an issue if your maintenance is good. Its preferrable for sure. They can be repacked for a reasonable cost from Coast Airbrush.

The Iwata folks do drop in here, but as you can imagine, not that often, so just trying to help, excuse me if I have misled or dissapointed your desired response.

Hey Blinddog,

10-4 Sir! No feathers ruffled here, pal and thanks again for the response.

I emailed Dave and the good folks at Coast and they replied that the HP-B did not come with Teflon packings. My preference is to buy with the Teflon. I feel that with the addition of the Teflon, that after extended A/B sessions, that the gun would continue to preform consistantly. I clean between color changes and something after a while of spraying. I have noticed that my Eclipse's characteristics change slightly ( a little drag on the needle, and other quarks I associate with O ring swelling ) from solvents. Later Jay

I think the last time I asked Dave about repacking, if they did it...it was about 100 bucks.

You should consider just buying the teflon o rings and change em out yourself.
I've done it. A little bit of a pain, but, eh, not too bad to do.
You can do it, just takes a little bit of time and patience.

Well .....

I bought a HP-BH Hi Line.... I've gotten less than 5 minutes on it in the 2 weeks I've owned it but, what a sweety!!! That MAC setup is the real deal. Later Jay

Congratulation's Jay! Man MAKE time to use that baby.

UPS has my HP-CH Hi-Line from CoastAirBrush, .3 instead of your .2, but it will be my only brush for a while.

Whit mentioned that Paasche had Teflon from the git go.

I plan to just do a lot of scribbling, dots, lines, gradients, blends, daggers etc. I won't stop until the entire board is plum full of doodling.
