Done this for a friend of mine, It was really for practice, I think it turned out alright.

That is a bit of a problem for me too, but for the writing of the name and swirly bit I did not thin it at all, I thinned it a little for the blue around the flame just a two drops after I dip it in the paint then pallette until it is mixed in.
