Tthis is my first try at true fire. I am going to try my next body with it. I know I have a way to go before I paint the body. I am glad I have lots of empty cd cases. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

I think the use of stencils, shields, or French curves used in the right places with free hand flames looks the best! I do like the idea of the base but couldn't you put something at the base that indicates something feeding the fire!

True fires tricky, but any random pattern works well, work on the stencil.
you can use soda bottles to practice too, slice it,and tape it to a kitchen cutting board.
Also, you need a good airbrush to bring the fire down to "scale" and have the details.
Start with the true fire before going to the blue fire....the blue fire is all blending and shading and you will learn it with the true fire. ...just my 2 cents
