Also my first post. I've been checking out the forum, so I figured this would be a good time to to get started posting. My girlfriend and I work full time, but I've always had fun playing around with airbrushes. We were looking for a way to bring in some extra cash, and thought we would try our hand at tattoos.
We picked the 4th. of July to jump in and get our feet wet, and boy did we! At first we almost sunk as my power supply for the generator failed along with my back up p/s. They worked perfect the night before, so I was kind of baffled about that? The lady next to us was kind enough to share her a/c power and we were back up and running after loosing about an hours worth of down time.
Once the crowd realized we were back in business, the line started to grow and didn't end until 7pm. that night. The fair was over at 5pm and everyone else was packing up their booths and leaving, but the line outside our booth was still pretty long. The crazy thing was... We never came up for air, lunch or even a bathroom break for that matter. I heard some of the people talking that they had been waiting over an hour just to get a tattoo, several folks came back during the day to get their second or third tattoos. I never thought our first show would've been this crazy!
Anyway, through all of this, we learned a lot of things that worked and didn't work, Also that I need to investigate a better independent power source, color sells better than I thought it would, and having some type of organization to this madness was the only thing that kept both, my girlfriend and I sane through out the day.
I'm sure I will have some questions about stuff we encountered, and get some helpful suggestions for our future shows, but that's all for now. Here's a couple of photos. First one of a 2 year old that was a little unsure if he wanted a tattoo or not, and my last two customers of the day.
My overall impression about airbrush tattoos....Kind of crazy, but actually a whole lot of fun!
